Cyberdyne HAL®

About Cyberdyne HAL®

Cyberdyne HAL® is a wearable robotic exoskeleton that detects the patient’s intention to move through bio-electrical signals generated by the body. It provides real-time movement assistance, helping patients actively practise movement while reinforcing the connection between intention, physical movement and sensory feedback.

Clinical Application

How it assists walking and movement

Cyberdyne HAL®

Explore How Cyberdyne HAL® Works

  1. 01 — Send

The brain sends movement signals through the nerves to the muscles.

  2. 02 — Receive & Read

Muscles receive signals from the brain to produce movement, but spinal cord injury can weaken these signals.

  3. 03 — Move

The powered joints respond in real time, helping the body complete the motion.

  4. 04 — Feedback

Sensory feedback returns to the brain, reinforcing neural pathways and supporting independent movement.

Clinical Purpose

  • Restore Movement

  • Retrain Neural Pathways

  • Improve Walking Function

  • Support Motor Relearning

  • Build Independence

Patient receiving robotic gait rehabilitation with Cyberdyne HAL exoskeleton under therapist supervision

Why Aster Walk Again

Traditional Rehabilitation

  1. Movement guided primarily by therapist and patient

  2. Repetition of therapeutic movements

  3. Progress assessed through clinical observation and testing

  4. Physical movement drives motor relearning

  5. Therapist manually adjusts assistance

HAL-Assisted Rehabilitation

  1. Movement assistance responds to the patient’s bio-electrical signals

  2. Intention-driven assisted repetition

  3. Adds movement and signal information during training

  4. Connects intention, assisted movement and sensory feedback

  5. Assistance can be adapted to the individual patient
